Higgins Gallery Exhibition Spotlights the Expanding Use of Reused/Recycled Materials in Fine Art

Mike Big Blue by Mike Wright
SWIMMERS by Keith Maddy

Re:Configured exhibits the divergent styles and techniques of artists Ruth Daniels of Somerville, Damien Hoar de Galvan of Boston, Walter Kopec of Boston, Keith Maddy of Boston, and Mike Wright of Provincetown. Consciously manipulating color and form, the original materials used by these artists are often unrecognizable with echoes of its previous incarnation, hauntingly familiar but still unknown. Sometimes inspired by the visual qualities, sometimes by the chance to make political statements on consumption and materialism, these artists use a wide variety of materials, stripping them of their original purpose to find new imagery and meaning, including humor, satire and wit.

Re:Configured runs now - April 9. On Friday, March 27 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm a Gallery Reception takes place in Higgins Gallery. Event is free and open to the public.

Higgins Art Gallery is located in the Tilden Arts Center at Cape Cod Community College, 2240 Iyannough Road in West Barnstable. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
