CCCMA and CCSO Reveal Plans to Merge
The Cape Cod Conservatory of Music and Arts and the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra have announced plans to launch "Unite4Excellence," a capital fundraising campaign aimed at merging the two non profit organizations. The merger of these two arts organizations will create a stronger link between music performance and music education; a greater investment in music and arts programs for students of all ages; and an improved ability to further the cultural, educational, and economic interests of the region.
In order for the merger to take place by the target date of August 31, 2010, the CCCMA and the CCSO have agreed to raise $300,000 by June 30, 2010. Three local foundations have created a challenge grant of $100,000. The additional $200,000 must be raised through the "Unite4Excellence" capital campaign, with the merger contingent on a successful outcome. Once merged, the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra's name will remain the same and the Conservatory's new name will be the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra Conservatory of Music and Art.
The Honorary Chair of the Unite4Excellence Campaign Committee is Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director & Conductor, Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra. AFCC Board President, Margaret Van Sciver and AFCC Board members Daniel A. Wolf and Wendy Northcross are joining many others to co-chair this fundraising campaign.
