A new television show joins volunteer artists with veterans. Planned to air in June of this year, local Cape Cod artist Robert John Cook will be hosting a weekly television show on Channel 17 in Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, and Chatham. The purpose of Cook's television show is to showcase The Artist's Advocacy Community, a non-profit designed to promote artists of all disciplines and their work, advocacy, volunteerism, and art activism.

The Artists & Veterans Project is a volunteer program aimed at uniting artists with veterans of the Iraq and Afghan wars. The purpose of the Artists & Veterans Project is for the artist to voluntarily provide the veteran free art lessons, workshops, and training in the veteran's choice of art. The artists will vary from the visual arts, to musicians, and writers, and every artist in between, virtually anyone whose interest involves creativity.

The Artist's Advocacy Community is headquartered on Cape Cod, and was founded in 2009 by Robert John Cook. For more information call 508-367-5571 or email MayflowerStudio@aol.com.

Economic Recovery Funding and NEFA's ARTS JOBS program

The New England Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce new funding opportunities as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). Signed on February 17, 2009, the ARRA recognizes the important role the arts will play in the economic recovery of the nation, and through stimulus funding awarded to the National Endowment for the Arts, provides NEFA approximately $330,000 to distribute in support of preserving arts jobs. Artist Fee Support
Grants to New England arts presenters for artist fees for previously planned engagements that may be canceled due to the economic downturn.

Fee Support for Public Art Projects
Grants to community-based organizations in New England to support artist and/or contractual fees for implementation of previously planned public art projects
