Berta Walker Gallery Celebrates 20 Years in Provincetown

Herman Maril
Still Life with Fish by Herman Maril
The Berta Walker Gallery is pleased to present an exciting and celebratory exhibition season. The 2009 Season includes the opening exhibition 20/20, Our Eye on Provincetown Art from May 22 - June 14, with an opening reception on May 22 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The exhibit is an overview of artists who have shown at one time or another during these past 20 years or have participated in some of our favorite group exhibitions.

This is particularly thrilling for Berta Walker, who has known the Maril family since she was a young girl in Provincetown. Last summer, celebrating Herman Maril's 100th Centennial of Maril's birth, Director Chris McCarthy of the Provincetown Art Museum curated a handsome exhibition for him re-introducing his special art to the very receptive Cape-wide audience.

Illustration Exhibition at Bowersock Gallery

Nathan Walker
Climate Change by Nathan Walker
Illustration Exhibition, at Bowersock Gallery, opens May 22 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, with an artist reception and a special appearance by children book author Michael Sullivan. The exhibition runs May 22 - June 16. The exhibit of 12 artists offers a broad mix of vision and medium. There are images that simply delight and a surprising number that challenge.

The work exhibited further blurs the line between fine art and illustration, both because of execution and in many cases the images.  Much of the work is straight out of the pages of published books. But this is not exclusively children book illustration. Bowerstock Gallery has brought together some of the best, established illustrators and the young, emerging artists.

The Bowersock Gallery is located at 373 Commercial Street in Provincetown. For more information call 508-487-4994 or visit www.bowersockgallery.com.
