Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Announces RACHAEL RAY Celebrity Guest Conductor for 25th Anniversary Pops by the Sea
David Yellen/RACHAEL RAY  | | Acclaimed Emmy Award-winning television host and best-selling cookbook author Rachael Ray will be the celebrity guest conductor for the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod 25th Anniversary TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert.
Ms. Ray's hugely successful syndicated daytime program, Rachael Ray, launched in the fall of 2006. Showcasing Ray's warmth, energy and boundless curiosity, the show - produced by CBS Television Distribution in association with Harpo Productions, Scripps Networks and Watch Entertainment - invites viewers to experience life the "Rachael Ray way."
Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Ray takes the same philosophy - finding simple solutions to everyday problems - beyond the kitchen and into all aspects of the show.
In August 2009, the Rachael Ray show won the Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment Emmy® for the second year in a row and scored three other Daytime Emmy nominations. Adding to the list of achievements, Television Week named her "Syndication Personality of the Year" in 2007 and Business Week honored her as one of the "Best Leaders of 2006."
The TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert is scheduled for August 1, 2010, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Hyannis Village Green, featuring the only Cape Cod appearance of Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. Both Festival Seat Tickets ($50) and General Admission Lawn Tickets ($15) can be purchased online at www.artsfoundation.org. Beginning on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, General Admission Lawn Seats will be on sale at all Cape Cod branches of TD Bank, Puritan Cape Cod, Christmas Tree Shops, at the Cape Cod Mall information desk and at the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds support the programs of the AFCC.

Patrick M. Butler Charitable Fund and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Donate 1,300 Pops by the Sea Tickets to Local Needy Families
Thanks to a generous donation by the Patrick M. Butler Charitable Fund of the Cape Cod Foundation, 1,300 free TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert tickets will be made available to local needy families through more than thirty Cape Cod health and human service agencies.
This special program will provide free family lawn seating to the 25th Anniversary TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert on Sunday August 1, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. The concert, held on the Hyannis Village Green, marks the only Cape Cod appearance by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and conductor Keith Lockhart.

Cape Cod Mall Hosts National Anthem Singing Competition

Participants were given the opportunity to sing their rendition of the National Anthem on stage in front of a panel of local celebrity judges and spectators. Each contestant also received a gift as a thank you for participating.
The three winning vocalists selected were Kandice Wood, Kristin Howard and Maryann Murphy. The winners will each perform the National Anthem at a Hyannis Harbor Hawks home game in July - game dates are July 11, 18 and 25. In addition to the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at a Cape Cod Baseball League game, the three winners each received a basket of goodies from Cape Cod Mall retailers and the Cape Cod Baseball League. Margaret Van Sciver, AFCC Board President,
served as one of the competition's four judges.

Volunteers will help set up before the concert, monitor parking lots, collect tickets, lead group tours, and much more.

2010 Provincetown Jazz Festival
The 6th Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival™ will be held on August 13th - 14th, 2010 at the Provincetown High School in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
For 2010, the Festival will celebrate the survival and revival of New Orleans Jazz and will commemorate the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. A portion of the proceeds from the Jazz Festival will be donated to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic which provides a health clinic for the uninsured jazz musicians and artists in New Orleans, and was founded and is directed by Bethany and Johann Bultman of Provincetown and New Orleans.

Art Shanties and Pearl Street Open Studios
The Art Shanties at Hyannis Harbor/Bismore Park are now open 7 days a week, 11 am - 8 pm. There are seven shanties; in addition to five full season artist shanties there are two rotating shanties-white and yellow which feature a new artist or group of artists each week.
Sarah Holl Artspace at 46 Pearl Street and the artist work studios @ 50 Pearl are open to welcome visitors to enjoy the studios and works as individual as the artists who create them. On Thursdays from July 1 - August 26, studios will be open from 5 - 8 pm in conjunction with the Hyannis Main Street summer strolls.

Priscilla Levesque Exhibit at Marion Craine Gallery
House Facing South by Priscilla Levesque  | Priscilla Levesque of Cataumet will display watercolor and casein paintings in the Marion Craine Gallery at the Snow Library from July 1 - 29. A meet the artist reception will be on Tuesday, July 6, 5 - 7 pm.

Paintings and pastel color illustrations by local artist Carroll Sivco will be exhibited at the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank July 1 - August 31. Carroll has taught art, exhibited and won awards in NY, Hilton Head Island, Block Island and Cape Cod. By the Beautiful Sea is her colorful interpretation of life by the Sea. The pastel illustrations are from a children's books she has been working on called Suzie Pops and The Piping Plover Predicament.

Art in the Park Fest in Hyannis
The Art in the Park Fest is taking place Saturday, July 3 and Saturday July 10, at Aselton Park from 3 - 8 pm both days. On July 3 local bands will be featured on stage and on July 10 local poets, stand-up comedians and thespians will take the stage throughout the event. On both days, local artists will be on site to demonstrate and sell their work. Hands on activities such as face-painting, tie-dying, hemp braiding are planned.

Summer Family Fun Fridays are hour-long performances on Fridays from July 9 - August 13, 11 am. The performances include puppet shows, dancing, comedy, storytelling, music and often a mix of everything. After the performance, complete a craft or garden project.

Summer Art Classes at Three Fish & a Ram Community Art Center
Three Fish & a Ram Community Art Center's summer class schedule for all ages is now available. Classes include Figure Drawing, Photoshop, Portfolio Preparation, Scratchboard, Cartooning and more.
Also offered is a special art program to all local teens in grades 7-12 from July 9 - August 6, 6 - 8 pm, on Mondays and Fridays. Students will have the opportunity to use a variety of mediums such as charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, pastels and mixed media/fiber art. Cape Cod Maritime Museum Sailing Mini-Camp on Sarah
The Cape Cod Maritime Museum is offering safe boating and sailing mini-camps July 12-16, July 19-23, July 26-30, 9 am - noon. Learn to sail and get a taste of history on the museum-built 1886 Crosby catboat Sarah. This unique boating safety course will give kids 12 to 15 years of age hands-on experience on the water. Upon successful completion, a Massachusetts Safe Boating License will be issued by the state. Class size limited to 6 students for each session.

Kids Summer Culinary Camp at Highfield Hall
Kids are cooking in the Highfield Hall kitchen this summer. Camps run Monday through Friday from 9:30 - noon. July 19 - 23: 4-6 year olds July 26 - 30: 7-10 year olds August 9 - 13: 11-13 year olds Each day, children will participate in creating a well rounded meal that they will be able to enjoy for lunch. They will use locally grown ingredients, often from Highfield's own kitchen garden, where they can have hands-on experience with a little growing, tending and harvesting their own food. Specific activities will be tailored to the appropriate age groups.

Cape Cod Conservatory will be offering a new Summer Festival of week-long, half-day intensives in every music discipline now - August 27. Music at the Payomet Performing Arts Center
The Narrowland New Art Quartet takes the stage for the first time on Monday, July 5, 8:15 pm. Founded last winter by Rebecca Dalmas and Daniel Parkington, the quartet includes Jennifer Bewerse and Chris McClain. The classically trained group will perform works of Philip Glass, Steve Reich and John Adams.

Guitarist Peter Janson in Concert / Guitar Workshop
On Saturday July 10, 8 pm, CAPE Carousel will present American Fingerstyle guitarist Peter Janson at Three Fish and a Ram Community Arts Center.
Reminiscent of American Folk guitar, Celtic guitar, and American Roots music, his original and contemporary style is filled with artistry, technical mastery, and passion.

Summer Classes at the Cataumet Arts Center
Old Green Car by Priscilla Levesque  | Experienced landscape painter and art teacher Priscilla Levesque will teach weekly drawing and watercolor classes at the Cataumet Arts Center beginning July 6. The drawing class will meet Tuesdays, 9:30 - noon, and the watercolor class on Wednesdays, 9:30 - noon. Both classes will last seven weeks and will meet outdoors, weather permitting. Some drawing experience is recommended before taking the watercolor class.

Introductory Printing Workshops in Eastham with Diane Brinker
One-day monotype workshops with Diane Brinker are offered on Tuesdays, July 13 - August 24, 10 am - 4 pm. Try one or participate in all - a different technique will be highlighted in each workshop. Experiment with non-toxic inks and several techniques including chine collé and stencil, using both created and found objects. No experience necessary, the workshops take place at Diane's studio in the historic section of Eastham.

Drawing the Figure: A Three-Day Introduction with Jack Coughlin This workshop on July 12 - 15, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, will lead students in drawing directly from the model, using pencil and charcoal, to develop individual expression, while exploring contour, gesture, and exercises in structure. Previous experience in figure drawing is not required.
In the Great Tradition: Figure Painting Out of Doors with Rob Dutoit In this workshop on July 12 - 16, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, multiple small sketches will be created in different lighting conditions, and then a larger canvas to return to on the following day. The emphasis will be on opening up our senses to a fresh use of color and space, rather than making a finished painting.

Color & Composition: A 6-week Class with Suzanne M. Packer
A class with Suzanne Packer will be held on Wednesdays from July 14 - August 18, 1 - 4 pm at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.
Suzanne will use a still life set-up as the starting point to create paintings which lead the viewer's eye across and around the canvas. She will focus on creating movement through composition, color harmonies, color temperatures and textures. Oil paints will be the material of choice, but other mediums may be used. All levels are acceptable as there will be much individual instruction.
