Calling all Educators
Looking for a free, fun, enriching, and unique art experience for your students this year? Join us for FIRST THINGS FIRST this January at the Cotuit Center for the Arts! FIRST THINGS FIRST will feature the works of more than fifty well-known Cape Cod artists, as they explore what is most important to them. This unique, free exhibit will introduce kids to the work of established artists from Cape Cod, while encouraging their own creativity through engaging educational activities during their visit. Keeping younger arts patrons in mind, art work will be displayed at a height of 4 feet throughout the exhibit - right at children's eye level - and a docent will be assigned to each group that schedules a visit. FIRST THINGS FIRST will be on display January 9 - February 6, 2010 at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. Based on advance bookings for school visits and the popularity of previously presented exhibits, ROYGBIV, Self Portrait Cape Cod and When We Were Younger, we anticipate high demand again in 2010. School visits will be welcomed throughout the month-long exhibit, but availability is limited and tends to fill up quickly, so please reserve your date as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. For more information about the exhibit, or to schedule your group trip, please email cmacort@artsfoundation.org or call 508-362-0066 x13. Note: All scheduling of student group visits and any additional information will be provided by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod; kindly do not contact the Cotuit Center for the Arts for information about the exhibit. FIRST THINGS FIRST is generously sponsored by Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation and supported by the Donald C. McGraw Foundation, Inc. and Cape Cod Melody Tent.

October is National Arts and Humanities Month
National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) is a coast-to-coast celebration of culture in America. Held every October and coordinated by Americans for the Arts, NAHM is the largest annual celebration of the arts and humanities in the nation. This year, Americans for the Arts is pleased to circulate the official proclamation issued by the White House in support of National Arts and Humanities Month.
This year's message is significant and historic because it is the first time that National Arts and Humanities Month has been recognized by an official Presidential Proclamation. President Obama has taken this opportunity to recognize the contributions that our cultural assets make to America's diversity, humanity, and economic health.
