Looking for a free, fun, enriching, and unique art experience for your students this year?  Join us for FIRST THINGS FIRST this January at the Cotuit Center for the Arts!

FIRST THINGS FIRST will feature the works
of more than fifty well-known Cape Cod artists, as they explore what is most important to them. This unique, free exhibit will introduce kids to the work of established artists from Cape Cod, while encouraging their own creativity through engaging educational activities during their visit.

Keeping younger arts patrons in mind, artwork will be displayed at a height of 4 feet throughout the exhibit - right at children's eye level - and a docent will be assigned to each group that schedules a visit.

FIRST THINGS FIRST will be on display January 9 - February 6, 2010 at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.  Based on advanced bookings for school visits and the popularity of previously presented exhibits, ROYGBIV, Self Portrait Cape Cod and When We Were Younger, we anticipate high demand again in 2010. School visits will be welcomed throughout the month-long exhibit, but availability is limited and tends to fill up quickly, so please reserve your date as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Falmouth Designated First Preserve America Community on Cape Cod

Highfield Hall
Highfield Hall, one of Falmouth's many cultural
venues, offers a place for artists, musicians
and local chefs to perform.

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod congratulates the Town of Falmouth for being designated a Preserve America Community by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation in partnership with other federal agencies, notably including the departments of the Interior, Commerce, and Agriculture.

The  Preserve America began as a White House initiative whose goals include a greater shared knowledge about the nation's past; strengthened regional identities and local pride; increased local participation in preserving the country's cultural and natural heritage assets; and, support for the economic vitality of communities.

Falmouth was one of nineteen communities or neighborhoods in Massachusetts to be selected as a Preserve America community or neighborhood. For Falmouth, the award is a tribute to the town's artistic and historical organizations and individuals who have helped to keep the town's history preserved and relevant.

To celebrate this award, Falmouth Selectmen have designated this November "Historic Preservation Month".

For a complete list of events visit the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce.
