Dennis, MA, September 17, 2005 - ‘…the collective feminine, which by its very nature sustains and nurtures not only the human spirit, but also the creative soul: This, more than any other factor, demonstrates why the concept -- twenty-one women meeting once a year for a painting retreat—has evolved into more of a ‘dynamic sisterhood’…Judith Curtis. 21 in Truro is a group of women artists who have been meeting for one week in Truro since 1999 to live together, paint together, support each other personally, and encourage each other to take creative risks. This year CCMA will be exhibiting the works they created as a result of their time together in 2004.
Living and working around the Pamet River Sladeville Cottages, they were inspired by the fall color of Cape Cod’s immense dunes and marshes. Inspired by the solitude of nature and shared meals, critiques and experiences of developing friendships, each painting captures an individual vision. The 21 in Truro are: LaVerne Christopher, Michele Dangelo, Jane Eccles, Sarah Fielding-Gunn, Ruth Hogan, Susan A. Hollis, Joan Ledwith, Jane Lincoln, Jerre Moriarty, Rosie Nadeau, Kate Nelson, Julie Olander, Suzanne M. Packer, JoAnn Ritter, M’Lou Sorrin, Grace Stergis, Lorraine Trenholm, Christie Velesig, Barbara Wylan, Linda S. Young, Joyce Zavorskas

A series of GALLERY TALKS with the artists will focus on the formation and shared goals of the 21; an interpretation of the work and unifying threads, discussion of the nature of painting and a personal talk from an individual artist as follows:

Friday, September 23, 11 am…Rosalie Nadeau on “Painting the Narrative”

Sunday, October 9th, 2 pm…Michele Dangelo on “Art School at 55”

Friday, November 11, 11 am…Jane Lincoln on COLORBLOCKS
On Saturday, October 1st …come watch many of the artists painting on the grounds of CCMA and the Playhouse during Dennis Cultural Days. The CCMA Members’ & Artists Reception will be held on Friday, October 28, 5:30 – 7:30.
