Centerville, MA, March 7, 2005 - The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) announced today the second annual Cape Wide COMCAST Student T-shirt Art Contest. This competition is open to every high school student living on Cape Cod, including those in public, parochial, private, charter and technical schools. The winner of this contest will have his or her original art featured on the AFCC's official T-shirt for the 20th Annual Pops by the Sea Concert.

The contest winner will receive a $250 cash prize and will be featured in the 2005 Pops by the Sea program book. Also, the student's high school art department will receive a $250 award. The second place winner will receive $100 (and the school art department will receive $100 as well); third place winner receives $50 (and $50 to the school art department). All entrants will receive two general admission lawn tickets to the concert.

"We are very excited about the art contest," said Margaret Van Sciver of the AFCC's board. "One of our great pleasures is to recognize our talented youth and to emphasize the importance of funding for arts education in our schools."

The Pops by the Sea concert is August 7, 2005, 5-7 pm at the Hyannis Village Green and will feature the only Cape Cod appearance of Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. Proceeds generated by the concert will be used to support the programs of the AFCC.

Entry deadline for the art contest is May 6, 2005. Subject matter should reflect the theme of "people enjoying music by the sea." Entries will be judged by a panel of distinguished community leaders, and local artists including Jan Collins Selman and William Evaul, with winners selected on May 13, 2005. View entry information.
