Cape Cod Five Foundation Awards Grant to Payomet
North Truro, MA, January 3, 2006 - The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust has awarded Payomet Performing Arts Center In Truro a $5000 Grant towards matching an anonymous donation of $10,000 for purchase of a new Tent and a move to Highlands Center @ Cape Cod National Seashore in North Truro in 2006. The estimated costs for the Tent and the move are $30,000 each.
In making the award, David Willard, Secretary of the Foundation, said: Your quest to purchase a new tent and move it to Highlands Center…resonated with the Cape Cod Five’s Charitable Foundation, for the request was seen as benefiting a broader geographical sphere and audience than just Payomet’s. The Five’s Foundation sees the presence of Payomet’s tent as the first, real tangible, visible signs of activity from one of the most important contributors to the planned, synchronistic vision—the arts.
Payomet is in the middle of a wide¬ranging fundraising appeal to its individual audience/donor base as well as its corporate, governmental and foundation supporters. In addition, Payomet’s good friend, JIMMY TINGLE has generously agreed to do a benefit evening on the Outer Cape in the spring.
As we enter our eighth year of affordable educational and entertainment programming for children and adult residents and visitors to the Outer Cape, we hope to make this new tent venue at Highlands Center a focal point for the community at large and to continue to serve the audience who has faithfully supported us. The new Anchor Navi¬Trac Tent will be a 50’ X 50’ frame structure, without center poles, seating up to 130, and will be sited within the grounds of Highlands Center @ Cape Cod National Seashore, North Truro, under the terms of a leasing agreement now being explored by Payomet with the Cape Cod National Seashore.
Payomet will again have a complete schedule of events and programs for the entire family in 2006, including the popular Drama Classes for Children and the Free Cape Cod Storyteller Project which have been presented yearly at Highlands Center. In addition, Payomet will present professional plays, concerts, spoken word programs, children’s shows, and its Shakespeare by the Shore Project for the 5 thconsecutive year, and more. See you at the Tent!
