Every year we are honored to welcome a Celebrity Guest Conductor to the TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert.
We were thrilled to have Angie Dickinson as the 2009 Celebrity Guest Conductor.

Past celebrity guest conductors have included Henry Winkler, Ray Romano, William Shatner, Jack Klugman, Art Buchwald, Beverly Sills, Regis Philbin, Paula Zahn, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Maya Angelou, Sebastian Junger, Edward Asner, Walter Cronkite, Olympia Dukakis, Norman Lear, Julia Child, and Mike Wallace.
Guest Performer Idina Menzel
The Boston Pops will be joined by Tony Award winner Idina Menzel on the TD Bank Pops by the Sea stage in Hyannis. Ms. Menzel constantly amazes audiences with her strong, emotional performances. Menzel recently joined the cast of Glee, on Fox Television. Last year, Menzel concluded a national tour playing to sold out houses throughout the United States promoting her album, I Stand. A skillful songwriter, Idina writes and performs her own music. PBS broadcast her show in New York and also aired the concert version of Chess: The Musical, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall where Idina shared the stage with Josh Groban.
In film, Idina starred in Disney’s hit, ENCHANTED and in the award-winning RENT. Ms. Menzel premiered the Broadway hit WICKED in the West End in London to rave reviews. She starred in the musical SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, at The Public Theater to critical acclaim. Menzel completed her Tony Award winning performance in WICKED in December 2005 where she had played to packed audiences at the Gershwin Theatre since it opened in October 2003. Idina received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut performance as Maureen, in the original production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning hit RENT. She also starred in the Off-Broadway original musical THE WILD PARTY. She appeared in the Encores! production of HAIR and starred in Broadway's AIDA. Her other Off-Broadway credits include the pre-Broadway, original, buzz-creating production of RENT and THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES.
Guest Artist Robert Douglas Hunter
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod has named Robert Douglas Hunter guest artist of the 25th Anniversary TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert. Hunter has been commissioned to create this year’s commemorative painting and limited edition lithograph, which will be unveiled at a reception in his honor on May 25 in Osterville. The original painting will also be on display at TD Bank on Main Street in Hyannis from June 1 - July 31, when it will be auctioned at a special VIP reception on the Hyannis Village Green.

The TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert is Cape Cod's single largest cultural event. For each of the past twenty-four years we have welcomed one of the nation's finest and best-loved musical ensembles - the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra - to the Hyannis Village Green for their only Cape Cod appearance.Under the baton of Maestro Keith Lockhart and a celebrity guest conductor, this fundraising concert regularly sells out to a live audience of over 15,000 - the Cape's largest single audience. Cape Cod residents and visitors from throughout the United States and abroad gather for the afternoon's entertainment. Together they sit at VIP tables, festival seating or on the lawn and enjoy this magical afternoon event, one which benefits art and culture on Cape Cod all year long.
Proceeds from this concert enable the Arts Foundation to fulfill its mission to support, promote, and celebrate the arts and culture of Cape Cod year-round. The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod provides artistic, cultural, and educational programs, such as the Passport to the Arts, a collaborative marketing program that introduces new audiences to the cultural treasures on Cape Cod at a reduced price, and our grants program, which supports those who create, foster, and promote art and culture in our community.
