Comcast Student T-Shirt Art Scholarship Competition Winners

Winning Design in Comcast Art Scholarship T-Shirt Design Competition to be Printed on 2011 Pops by the Sea Commemorative T-Shirt
 
1st Place in the 2011 Comcast Student T-Shirt Scholarship CompetitionPatrick Kimber of Nauset Regional High School is the winner of the Comcast Cape-Wide Student Art Scholarship Competition, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod announced today.  Patrick's winning design will be featured on the official Arts Foundation of Cape Cod T-shirt commemorating the 26th Annual TD Bank Pops by the Sea concert on August 7, 2011.

Patrick and his school's art department will each receive a $500 cash prize for the winning design.  Second place winner Kiana Suchecki -- who has placed for the third year in a row in this competition -- and her sponsoring art department, also at Nauset Regional High School, will each receive $250.  Third place winners Adrian D'Orlando of D-Y Regional High School and Graeme Milley of Chatham High School will each receive $100, and an additional $100 will be awarded to each of their schools' art departments.  Honorable mentions went to Madison Childs and Alexis Perry of Barnstable High School, Rachel Maginnis of Sandwich High School, and Wesley Rawstron and Matt Shahzade of Falmouth High School. Each honorable mention winner and their school will receive a $50 prize.

The students will receive their awards at an invitation only reception at Historic Highfield Hall in Falmouth on Tuesday, May 31 at 6:00 pm.  The reception will also mark the unveiling of the commissioned painting for the 26th Annual TD Bank Pops by the Sea Commemorative Painting by marine artist Michael Keane.

The review committee for this year's Comcast Art Scholarship T-Shirt Design Competition included Brian Carlson of the Town of Provincetown, Duncan Gibson, Executive Director of the Edward Gorey House, Jim Hill of Digital Quill Design, Janel Kesten of New England Reprographics, Coco Larrain, Artist, Michelle Law of Cotuit Center for the Arts, Mary O'Keefe of Comcast, Lee Sullivan, Artist, Kevin Howard, Executive Director of the AFCC, and Lynne Poyant and Mark Skala, Co-Chairs of the 26th Annual TD Bank Pops by the Sea.

The 26th Annual TD Bank Pops by the Sea will feature a Cole Porter Tribute Program performed by three-time Tony-nominated Broadway star Kelli O'Hara, and Theater World Award winner Broadway star Jason Danieley. The celebrity guest conductors will be the comedy screenwriter and director duo Peter and Bobby Farrelly.
