Liza Abelson

About Me

I work in several mediums including stained glass and acrylic/oil painting. My paintings reflect my fascination with the beauty, complexity and spirit in every day things, situations and people. And my stained glass work includes unique decorative objects and jewelry. As with my painting, my glass pieces are designed and created with a combination of planning, spontaneity and humor. I use the copper-foil technique and my stained glass studio is completely lead-free. The organic shapes I create are formed with glass, metal and found objects. And I see a strong connection between my current body of work and the large-scale, welded sculptures I did 20 years ago in which I explored abstractions of the figure. I have been exhibiting publicly for over 17 years and I am a graduate of Brandeis University. My paintings, sculptures and jewelry can be seen at art exhibits, craft shows, retail shops and galleries throughout New England.
