Moriah Saccardo: Helping Creativity Thrive on the Cape

Creativity was a world that Moriah Saccardo was encouraged to visit often as a kid growing up in Plymouth.
“My mom was an English teacher, and she is definitely an artist. She worked in stained glass and weaving. We always had a room in our house where she’d make beautiful pieces. Then her creativity moved to working with precious metals and she had a business for a time where she sold her own jewelry,” Moriah shared. “She would do things with me to capture my attention, whether it was scribbling in a book or painting on a canvas with oil paints. I am not super creative, but it gave me a way to express myself in a productive way.”
Those early experiences left an indelible mark on Moriah, the Arts Foundation’s newest Bronze Business Patron. While she may not be an artist, she understands the critical importance the arts play in our lives and our community.
Giving back has long been important to Moriah, who lives in Falmouth with her husband Daryl. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod as well as supported women living in shelter who have fled abusive relationships. “I want to show that what I have achieved thus far can be achieved by others,” she said. “It is pretty rewarding to give back with the energy I can offer.”
Moriah was introduced to the Arts Foundation through her work as a realtor with William Raveis Real Estate, the Title Sponsor for the 38-year-old nonprofit. “I was invited to an Arts Foundation event and I was mesmerized by the people I was surrounded by,” Moriah said. “I was around people who cared about something similar to me — creativity, art, and giving back to a community that wants to share more of the arts with others. It felt relatively natural.”
The connection she felt with the Arts Foundation and the work we’re doing to strengthen the arts across the Cape inspired her to deepen her relationship as a Business Patron. “This is a hyper-focused organization that is giving back to a community that I identify with,” she said. “For the little amount I am giving, maybe I can help a local kid take a music lesson or be a part of a theatre class. I want to make my contribution help support that facet of the creative mind.”
